The
Route Card
The development
of the Prodman suite of Production Control and Management software began when
in 1987 when Colbek Systems Limited was approached by a number of small engineering
companies to develop software to help with the administration of their company.
The product started as a simple
Route Card database and editor for producing instruction sheets and over a
short period these features were supplemented with Works Order Processing,
Invoicing, and Job Costing. Other databases were added to store Inspection
details, Gauge and Tool Tracking, Drawing Management and so on.
ISO
standards
The first true Prodman product
in the early 90's was called Prodman 5750 because many companies found it
so useful in assisting them with attaining British Standard 5750 accreditation.
As Prodman developed it was renamed Prodman 9000 in line with the ISO (International
Standards Organisation) 9000 standard. Prodman 9000 is still widely used by
sub-contract manufacturers and small product manufacturers.
DOS
to Windows
Prodman 3i was developed primarily
as a Production Management system to integrate closely with Sage Line 100
accounting system. The system utilizes the complete Sage Line 100 Commercials
suite for the Accounting, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing
and Stock Control functions.
The above suites were originally
text interface but are now both available with the Sage Line 100 Windows GUI
interface.
Prodman Limited was incorporated
as a company in 1988 in order to give Prodman a stronger brand identity.
The new company concentrates on manufacturing software leaving Colbek Systems
to continue with computer services and other bespoke software.
Full
32 bit Windows technology
Prodman 4 Windows was developed
in 1998 in order to meet the demand for a full 32 bit Windows product. The
system is completely self contained with full Manufacturing Control, Job Costing,
Sales and Purchase Order Processing and Stock Control. Accounting Ledgers
from most popular accounting packages can be incorporated for a complete business
solution. The evolution of the latest Prodman 4 Windows version has resulted
from continual feedback and response to customer needs .
Accounts integration and the future
We are
currently completing a fully integrated version of Prodman 4 (Prodman 4i or
Prodman 5i?). The new software is designed to integrate seamlessly with many popular accounting suites. As with our other Prodman products we'll be offering excellent value for money and comprehensive functionality.
